“It’s a magical world, Hobbes, Ol’ buddy…Let’s go exploring!” — Calvin and Hobbes

When we moved to Denver, Colorado, we were excited about living near the mountains and having moved in the winter wanted to ski and play in the snow.  When the spring came we knew that we wanted to go exploring and look for new exciting places, animals, and people.  We found a list of over 50 hikes and adventures, some to the highest peaks in Colorado and some to old military factories from the Cold War.

We planned to document our hikes as best we could with photography, notes, and whatever else we could use to capture the adventure.  In the months to come the page grew along with our ambitions. As of writing today, over 5 years in, we know that Take A Walk is about encouraging people to explore the outdoors, no matter where they are.  Nature is our largest resource for not only physical nourishment, but for spiritual nourishment, which is equally important.

We will continue to make plans to explore not only our backyard here in Colorado, but everywhere else we can get to. There are quite a few far out adventures we are planning, such as Mt. Rainier, Aconcagua, Denali, and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Whatever happens we know it will be fun, and we want to share it with you, and hopefully inspire everyone to get outside and see what a treasure we have here all around us.  Bill Watterson was quite right when he penned It’s a Magical World and we hope you enjoy our site as much as we enjoyed making it!
